The Best Kept Secret

I am a punk!  Yes, I am a self confessed punk - when it comes to online videos. I start out great then my mind goes blank after a few minutes :-( which is weird because I present stuff in front of large audiences without a problem, but something about online makes my brain cells freeze. I will work on getting comfortable with online videos but in the meantime, here is a 2 minute read about the best kept secret in my opinion.

There are a lot of sermons and books that have been written about Proverbs 31 but, I learnt the hard way that becoming a virtuous woman requires a lot of discipline and time management. And this, to me, is the best kept secret! I own and run this business but I also have a full time job and a part time job where I work as a software developer. I love everything about software development but I'm also very passionate about everything that entails running this business which is why I juggle the 3 of them plus my personal life.

I had no clue how I was able to do it until all hell broke loose in June! Things were falling apart left, right and center. I had a lot of backlog at my part time job and I knew I could do better with this business but I was getting home too exhausted from my full time job to do anything productive...ugh!

I finally took time off everything and re-evaluated my life and that's when it hit me! I have a schedule that I followed from January - May but I didn't follow it in June which is why my life was all messed up. I am all caught up with the backlogs but I am also starting July determined to:

  1.  - Stick to my schedule as much as I can.
  2.  - Life happens and my schedule gets messed up but I am going to bounce back as fast as I can.
  3. - Set realistic goals in all areas of my life. I will shamelessly take lunch breaks and my 30 minute breaks every single day at my full time job :-). I cannot believe the many times that I worked through my breaks which is why I was wiped out at the end of the day.
  4. - Enjoy this summer -  Sunday is funday for me and mine and I will definitely live it up with this summer.

What are your plans for the rest of 2018?

We have 2 repayments from the loans that we gave through KIVA in April. I am not sure what that means for us at this point but, it's on my ‘To Do’ list so I will keep you posted.  My June was so messed up that I did not have a chance to find a worthy cause to donate to so, albeit late, I am considering donating 10% of our profits for May and June to Pencils of Promise.  Let us know if you know of a worthy cause that would benefit from our donation.

We are planning to restock in August. Let us know if there is anything that is sold out that you would like us to restock. We are contemplating getting Dashiki dresses and shirts in August...we’d love to hear what you think!

Well, thanks for reading! Here is to a great, balanced, fun filled summer!
